Wildflowers

It was amazing how many different wildflowers were blooming in the same location along the sides of Lone Eagle peak.

Glacier

Here is the glacier up near Lone Eagle Peak that fill's up Triangle Lake.

Lone Eagle Peak

Here's a view of the Lone Eagle Peak we climbed... dang, looks a bit steep from this angle... oh yea, it was steep!

The red mountains

I love the way the setting sun turns the mountains a reddish color.

Sam and John

Sam and John just standing around at the peak with Lone Eagle in the background. They look a little nervous don't you think! ;-)

1500+ year old tree

Here a solitary Bristlecone Pine tree on Mt Bross. For whatever reason, this is one of the only areas these trees grow in Colorado. Bristlecone Pines are the oldest living trees. The one's on Mt Bross are 1500+ years old. Some in California are over 4000+ years old. Imagine that, trees that were alive when the Pharaoh's ruled.

Waterfall

The hike up to Crater lake had numerous waterfalls, all of which were running full force like this one due to the recent rainfall.

Who's that good looking guy?

In reality this should probably have been titled "Who's that stinky guy". Those pants have been worn for 3 straight days, the shirt twice, but both washed in Crater lake to ensure they at least looked presentable for a pic ;-)

Dang that pack is big, and heavy.

Campsite

Here's my section of the campsite. Since it rained nearly every day, you can see I had to set out numerous pieces of clothing to dry out...in the tree, and on the rocks.

View from the top

Here's my favorite view. Here I am sitting on the peak above Lone Eagles peak, with some beautiful exposure dropping straight down for a couple hundred feet, and then gradually flatening down to Crater lake. Good thing I didn't slip!

Our campsite is actually in the upper right corner of the lake...not that you can see any of the 5 tents from this far up!

Chute

Here's Sam standing near a chute at the peak above Lone Eagle peak, which you can see in the distance.

Crater Lake

Here's a nice view of Crater Lake, where we camped, from up on one of the mountains surrounding it.

Cherokee

Here are the da boys, and finally me in a pic, after climbing Cherokee, which you can see in the background. It had some fun class 3 scrambling at points, which made it more fun to me than your typical slog to the top.

Soggy start

The start of our hike out to Lone Eagle Peak was a wet one...here's da boys outfitted in their rain gear to start the hike. It rained for 3 hrs of the hike, but thankfully let up when we reached camp, so it wasn't raining when we had to setup our tents.

Mt Bross

Before we headed off on the trip to Lone Eagle Peak we first climbed a 14er, Mt. Bross. Here are da boys at the top.
